So, you’re on Umbraco v13 or above and you have that lovely back office login screen? Not quite what you’d like to be looking at each time you access your webpage? Understood, don’t sweat – we can help.

We’ve put together a quick guide on some simple changes that can ease the visual burden of pages you’d rather not see on the daily. Despite being only minor changes, from v13 onwards the login page has been built using WebComponents and the Umbraco UI library (which will be the technology used in future iterations).

What is customisable?

As you can see, out of the box we have a lovely image of a person hard at work with an Umbraco logo. These are our two customisable elements.

How?

Like in previous versions it’s possible to add that usual corporate branding for a client using the configuration settings within appsettings.json, environment variables or any other config method you’re utilising in your .NET app. In this quick guide we’ll be using the appsettings.json that comes out of the box.

Under Umbraco:CMS:Content we’ve added paths to the image and logos we want to use, these files are in the ‘wwwroot/img’ to allow for the images to be served up from the application

And voila!

It’s really that simple, despite the limitations on styling this page, being able to simply add brand photos and logos can brighten up your back office or allow for you to give your clients those extra bits of personalisation as the cherry on top of a project.
